Athletes

Athletes subject their bodies to a large number of physical stresses. The entire musculoskeletal system is involved, but also the mental and nervous systems, and the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
Athletes particularly need to consult their osteopath regularly to maintain and strengthen their bodies, which will allow them to improve their performance by limiting the risk of injury and increasing their recovery capacity.

Reasons for consultation for the athlete:
  • prevention and maintenance.
The purpose of this consultation is to verify that everything is in order, that no dysfunctional chain is being established.
It contributes to joint and muscle maintenance, combats the occurrence of pain, and is also very useful for growing, athletic children.
This consultation will improve performance by increasing the range of motion through precise adjustment of structures.
It must take place at least three days before a competition or match in order to allow the body time to adapt to any necessary adjustments.
Every athlete should see their osteopath regularly, according to the old adage "prevention is better than cure," to carry out the monitoring essential to the practice of sport.
We will take advantage of periods of rest or convalescence to recalibrate posture if necessary (see the sports posture tab).
  • the treatment.
These are consultations that will:
- treat various sports injuries: falls, impacts, pain, sprains, muscle strains, tendinitis.
- to help with a better and faster post-surgical recovery.
- to relieve pain.
- To provide solutions in case of bad breath, side stitches... by making corrections at the level of the diaphragm for example.
- Relieving periods of stress for athletes through techniques adapted to the nervous system and also to the visceral system.

Osteopathic treatment for athletes prioritizes structural techniques because the dysfunctions encountered are often mechanical and traumatic, affecting the musculoskeletal system. However, treatment is also adapted to the specific sport. For example, cranial techniques will be primarily used on a boxer.
